Additive manufacturing with phenolic resin

The Phenol Direct Binding (PDB) process is a future-proof solution for 3D printing of complex and filigree sand cores and molds and can be used as an alternative to furan resin. Casting molds printed with phenol 3D-printing are characterized by particularly high resistance to thermal stress and dimensional stability.

In addition to phenolic resin, furan resin or inorganic binder systems can also be supplied by voxeljet.

Your advantages of 3D printing with phenolic resin:

  • High tensile strength:
    Cores printed with phenolic resin show an elongation at break of 250 - 500 N/cm³.

  • Recyclability:
    Unprinted sand can be recycled and reused up to 100%.

  • Material variety:
    Regardless of the pH value of the material, we also offer 3D printing of special sands such as Cerabeads, Kerphalite and Chromite in addition to quartz sands.

  • Quality assurance:
    Due to low loss of ignition as well as low gas formation and hot deformation, high-quality casting results can be achieved.
