Investment casting and design models made of plastic

3D printing with plastic is the ideal solution for cost-effective and time-saving production of investment casting and design models. The models are produced by applying a particulate material in layers and selectively bonding it with a binder. PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), an acrylic plastic, is used as the particulate material.

  • No shell breakage due to negative thermal expansion coefficients
  • Surface finishing: wax infiltration for smoother investment-cast parts or epoxy resin to increase strength in display models
