Daniel - Technical Service

“Being responsible for my own projects, assisting clients and discovering the world in progress.”

No customer is the same; everyone has special requirements. Especially in a high-tech industry, it is common to adapt a machine to fit the customer’s individual needs. This is exactly what Daniel Pleinert is responsible for. He has been working as a service technician at voxeljet in Friedberg since 2013. From here, he travels the world and assists customers with installations, maintenance and repair work.

Industrial experience and manual dexterity

Daniel was more or less born with a passion for technology. He has always been enthusiastic about industrials and innovation. During his second apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic, Daniel had no idea that he would later apply the practical skills he learned there to work on high-tech 3D printers.

During his initial training at voxeljet, Daniel was already able to support his more experienced colleagues on field assignments. Shortly thereafter he gained the trust and opportunity to take on his own projects. Worldwide installations and service calls, digital customer support and training of customers and employees have been on his daily agenda ever since.

From Friedberg to the whole world

Daniel would never have thought it possible to be in a different country every week. Now, Antarctica is the only continent he has not set foot on. Daniel quickly answered the question of what exactly attracted him to the job: “Working in an international environment, the multifaceted nature of the job and the thrill of going on a mission every now and then where I don’t know exactly what to expect. The job has given me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people and cultures. This has enriched me not only professionally, but also personally.”

Today, Daniel enjoys being involved in a wide range of different tasks and projects. He appreciates having the confidence to shape projects on his own while knowing that he can always rely on his colleagues for support.

On your own, but never alone

If a customer is in need, Daniel is already on his way and no one is too far for him. Although language barriers and time differences pose a challenge now and then, “in the end, I could always rely on my colleagues back home, as I received excellent support even on difficult issues and was able to leave a satisfied customer afterwards. Sometimes nothing helps but jumping into the deep end, and these jumps have contributed to my personal development and brought me to the point where I am now.”

He knows how to put all his traveling to good use. For example, while on a client assignment in England, he also happened to catch a German national team soccer match at Wembley Stadium. In the end, the DFB-11 won 1-0 and the machine was also successfully installed. Thus, from a private and work point of view, the trip was a complete success. The DFB-11 would probably agree.

In the meantime, Daniel is also helping to train new colleagues, who can learn a lot from his wealth of experience. Daniel’s expertise is not only technical, but also involves dealing with different cultures, and Daniel is sharing this knowledge with his new colleagues. He is also working on furthering the development of the voxeljet Academy, which focuses on the planning and implementation of practical training courses for customers and employees.
